The research team of the Alpinechange project is formed by researchers from the University of Seville, University of Murcia, University of Granada and the National Museum of Natural Sciences (CSIC).
Her research focuses on the physiology, ecology and the evolution of insects. She is currently interested in combining physiological information with distribution models to predict the effects of climate change on species.
Susana Pallarés
Postdoctoral Researcher
Department of Zoology
University of Seville
email: spallares1@us.es
Marine biologist specialized in the toxicology of heavy metals and biodiversity conservation. He was granted with a “Garantía Juvenil” contract (V Program) to support the ALPINECHANGE project.
His research has mainly focused on the conservation of insects and aquatic ecosystems, the ecology of saline streams, water beetles from coastal rockpools, biotic indicators in aquatic ecosystems, and environmental flows and their relation with macroinvertebrate communities.
Andrés Millán
Full-time Professor
Department of Ecology and Hydrology
University of Murcia
email: acmillan@um.es
His research interest is the ecology and evolution of aquatic and subterranean biodiversity. He is specialized in biogeography and predictive modelling, ecophysiology of insects, and climate change and biodiversity conservation.
David Sánchez
Ramón y Cajal Researcher
Department of Ecology and Hydrology
University of Murcia
email: davidsan@um.es
His research is focused on the conservation of aquatic invertebrates and ecosystems (diversity patterns and biodiversity surrogates). In addition, their interest include studies about taxonomy and community ecology of aquatic Coleoptera.
Félix Picazo
Postdoctoral Researcher
Department of Ecology
University of Granada
email: fpicazo@ugr.es
Graduate student interested in invertebrate biodiversity and conservation, with a particular focus in species' distribution modelling and its use in the field, especially in the context of global change.
Sergio Pérez-Bonet
Graduate Student
Department of Zoology
University of Seville
email: serperbon@us.es
His research program integrates knowledge and methodologies from different disciplines to understand the evolutionary processes that gave rise to current biodiversity patterns and how biodiversity responds to global change. His research has mainly focused on freshwater biodiversity, more specifically working with water beetles as model systems.
Pedro Abellán
Principal Researcher
Department of Zoology
University of Seville
email: pabellan@us.es
He is interested in faunistic, ecological and biogeographical studies with aquatic insect, being specialized in evolutionary ecophysiology. His research is mainly focused on the thermal physiology of aquatic insects in alpine ponds.
