Thermal Tolerance Experiments

August 8, 2022

During the months of July and August thermal tolerance experiments were carried out by our colleagues José Carbonell and Susana Pallarés with the species Agabus bipustulatus in the University of Murcia.

Laboratory work 2022

July 17, 2022

Throughout the months of November to May our team continues the ALPINECHANGE project with the performance of thermal tolerance experiments in the University of Murcia; the geometric morphometry study of Agabus nevadensis and Agabus bipustulatus in the University of Seville; and the elaboration of genomic libraries of the studied species in the Doñana Biological Station-CSIC.

II Meeting of the Iberian Ecological Society (SIBECOL)

July 25, 2022

Our team members José Carbonell and Susana Pallarés recently attended the II Meeting of the Iberian Ecological Society celebrated in Aveiro, Portugal; in which they presented their research entitled "Thermal biology of alpine aquatic insects: the case of the diving beetles of Sierra Nevada (Spain).

It was a magnificent opportunity to introduce and expand the dissemination of our project. Furthermore, we had the pleasure to meet other fellow scientists of the ever-growing community of ecologists.

XV National Congress of the AEET

Nov 22, 2021

We recently attended the AEET's XV National Congress in Plasencia, Spain; in which we had the honor to present a poster that described the ALPINECHANGE project, as well as its goals and approaches.  This opportunity not only gave us a chance to introduce our project, but to receive feedback and different perspectives  from other fellow scientists in the field.

As always, it was a pleasure meeting with Spain's great and ever-growing community of ecologists.

Field work campaign 2021

Sept 5, 2021

Throughout the months of June to october, bi-weekly samplings were carried out in the lakes of Aguas Verdes and La Caldera, in order to obtain more data on their macroinvertebrate communities and how they change throught time.

Field work campaign 2020

Sept 7, 2020

During the months of July and August, extensive samplings was carried out in more than 30 alpine lakes, belonging to the valleys of Lanjarón, Trévelez, Dílar, Genil and Maitena, Poqueira, and Durcal.
